At Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Center, we provide a range of soft tissue surgical procedures for dogs and cats, from routine spays and neuters to more advanced procedures when medically appropriate.

Surgical Procedures We Perform
Our soft tissue surgical services include:
Spay and neuter procedures
Routine sterilization procedures for dogs and cats, performed with careful anesthetic monitoring and pain management.
Mass removals
Removal of skin masses, lumps, growths, and other soft tissue abnormalities. When appropriate, tissue may be submitted for biopsy to better understand the diagnosis and guide follow-up care.
Limited eye procedures
Selected ophthalmic procedures may be performed depending on the condition, location, and complexity of the case.
Cystotomy
Surgical removal of bladder stones or other material from the urinary bladder when medical management is not enough.
Gastrointestinal surgery
Surgery involving the stomach or intestines, including procedures for foreign body obstruction or other medically necessary conditions.
Advanced soft tissue procedures
Some advanced surgeries may be performed in partnership with a veterinary surgical specialist, allowing pets to receive a higher level of surgical expertise when needed.
Our Anesthetic and Monitoring Protocol
Anesthesia is carefully planned for each patient. Before surgery, we evaluate your pet’s health, review recommended lab work, and select medications based on their individual needs.
During anesthesia, we provide:
Active warming and temperature support
IV catheter placement and fluid therapy when indicated
Nausea prevention and recovery support
Pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative pain management
Careful monitoring of vital signs
Blood pressure monitoring
EKG monitoring
Oxygen and ventilation monitoring
Close observation throughout recovery

Communication and Follow-Up
We will explain the recommended procedure, expected recovery, and any important risks or alternatives before surgery. After the procedure, we provide clear discharge instructions, medication guidance, and follow-up recommendations.
