Dr. Javier Gonzalez

Veterinarian / Owner

Dr. Javier Gonzalez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. As a young kid, Dr. Gonzalez always dreamed of one day becoming a veterinarian. He did so in 2004. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL in 2000. He then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, a small island in the Caribbean and completed his senior year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA. After graduating from vet school in January of 2004, Dr. Gonzalez moved to New York and practiced veterinary medicine in Long Island. After living and working there for a year, he decided to move back to the Sunshine State after long winter days convinced him that New York was not the Empire State for him. Dr. Gonzalez practiced at a local animal hospital for 7 years and opened Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Center in 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dr. Gonzalez enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, but has a special interest in preventive medicine. He shares his life with his husband Jarad and his kids, Jagger and Jaxx.  He is owned by his dogs Bentley (shih-poo) and Frankie (Maltese). He loves everything Nature like landscaping and animals in general.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, going to the theater and movies, swimming, bike riding and keeping a healthy lifestyle (except for sweets and diet cola).

Hi! My name is Celeste and I’m a veterinary assistant with a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and a big passion for all things exotic—reptiles, birds, amphibians! I’ve always known I wanted to work with animals, but it wasn’t until I had a personal experience with my own exotic pet that I realized just how underrepresented these amazing creatures are in veterinary care. That moment ignited my passion for exotic animal medicine, and I’ve been dedicated to the field ever since.

Right now, I’m gaining hands-on experience in the clinic and preparing for vet school. Every day is a chance to learn something new, expand my skills, and deepen my understanding of the unique needs of all species. I’m grateful to be on this path and excited for what’s ahead!

Welcome!
I’m Alexis. I’ve been working with Dr. Gonzalez for a little over two years now as a veterinary technician, and I absolutely love what I do. I was born and raised in South Florida and went to the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where I majored in Biology.
I’ve always had a passion for animals, and my ultimate goal is to become an exotic animal veterinarian. Every day at the clinic gives me the chance to learn something new and help both pets and their people. I really enjoy connecting with pet parents and always encourage you to ask questions—being informed is one of the best things you can do for your furry (or scaly!) family members.
I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

I'm dedicated to making every visit a positive experience for both pets and their families. I've enjoyed working with all kinds of animals at Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Center, but I do have a special love for American bulldogs. I share my home with my curious cat Khal, and Dulce, my sweet dog!
